Comedian Roseanne Barr has listed her macadamia nut farm in Honokā‘a, Hawaii, for just under $2 million.
Barr, 72, purchased the 46-acre property, located on the Hamakua Coast of the Big Island, in 2007 for $1.78 million, according to property records. The working farm was the backdrop for her 2011 Lifetime series “Roseanne’s Nuts,” in which she, her son and her partner, Johnny Argent, work the land.
“They’ve said ‘Roseanne’s nuts’ for years, and now I’m going to make that a reality,” Barr told Variety in 2011. “I’m all about nuts now—macadamia nuts.”
The show only lasted 16 episodes. Representatives for Barr did not respond to a request for comment.
The main house is about 2,700 square feet and offers far-reaching views of the coastline and orchards, according to last week’s listing with Paul Stukin, founder and CEO of Deep Blue HI. The home has a deep lanai that helps create an indoor-outdoor lifestyle, and the family room and adjacent kitchen open up to the outdoor space.
There’s also a formal living room, plus four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms, listing photos show.
Outside, there’s a pool with a waterslide and pool house set among mature palm trees, according to the listing. There’s also a separate art studio, a greenhouse, a garage and an outdoor shower and soaking tub.
The estate is laden with macadamia nut trees, as well as avocados, finger limes, apple bananas and tangerines, among others. There are walking trails throughout the property.
“Only here can you walk a macadamia farm in the morning and a rainforest trail by lunch,” Stukin said in an email.
Barr has been an active farmer since she acquired the land, but the property could also evolve to include a boutique farm-to-table venture, a regenerative homestead or other venture, according to the listing.
Barr is known for her early bawdy stand-up comedy, the long-running sitcom “Roseanne” and a controversial tweet in 2018 many deemed racist, plus a 2023 comeback comedy special, “Cancel This!”
Despite her big personality, she landed in a fairly small community in Hawaii.
“Honokā‘a is pure small-town charm with some of the most dramatic coastline in Hawaii,” Stukin said.
